Someone asked me today, “Are you giving up, Andrea?”
I’d just told them my husband and I are in the late stages of considering the purchase of an existing small business in our town. It’s an ESL school, and what a treat it’s been to plan and imagine how to be of service to international students – giving them a taste of the Canadian outdoors.
“But what about your coaching business – the Wealthy Thought Leader?” was their next question.
To which I answered…
“You know…
It’s okay to want something different from other people.
*Remembering that* can be hard. (That you actually don’t want the same things other people want.)
The tractor beam (seductive Hollywood, anyone?) is strong.
My intention has never been to build a multi-million dollar coaching business.
My vision has been to create a ‘rock-solid, been around for ages, boutique restaurant that always has a lineup around the corner.’
Blessedly, I’ve slipped off my track a couple of times. And been reminded of what’s most important.
I want to serve the perfect number of people who only I can serve, for just the right season and reason.
And I *get* that the size I’ve built to at this moment is just-about-Goldilocks-right.”
This was met with silence for a while.
(It was in that moment that I thought – this might be something good to share more widely, hence this writing to you.)
Does this surprise you?
It surprised me, to hear the ‘But… Andrea…that is different from what I imagined you to be doing. I thought something different. I thought you were doing like that other person is doing.’
And then… ‘Who will I coach with if you become an ESL school owner?’
Hmm. Penny drops.
“I don’t plan to leave coaching. But I do plan NEVER to ‘do coaching’ in a cookie-cutter way. If it’s meant, of course, we can still work together!”
Please don’t give up your burning desire to create a business in a non-cookie-cutter way.
Don’t give up on doing it as profitably and meaningfully as you really want. Please.
To help, have a listen to this recording from the Wealthy Thought Leader Open House call on “How to Think For Yourself – 3 Easy Exercises” (It actually turned into 5 exercises, but… who’s counting?)
The recording is a deep, still, moving one that can shift you out of ‘feeling seduced/tricked/blinded for awhile’ into remembering yourself…recalling what you actually want.
Perfect if you’ve been feeling tired of the ‘Las Vegas strip style of build-your-business’ teaching and are looking for … well… the secret sauce from a boutique, content-obsessed, coaching business (that happens to be mine.)
I loved teaching this call more than any other Open House call for quite some time.
I believe you’ll love it too.
Non-cookie-cutter types need to stick together. With the greatest of humility, perhaps you’d like to get together to continue this conversation on:
- How to build your business differently (non-factory farmed) yet make steady, excellent income (income through innovation)
- Taking the things that make you feel like a ‘misfit’ and burnish them to a gleam, shining that light brightly to show the way for your intended clients
- Feeling at home, rather than ill-at-ease, with thinking differently, for yourself…and finally, having company for those feelings! Etc.
Andrea, please allow me to invite you to attend the Wealthy Thought Leader 3-day live event.
Accessible in-person in Vancouver (about 15 seats left) OR… via the power of Simulcast technology. (From home. With ease. An introvert’s paradise. Networking and learning on your terms, at the intensity level you control.)
Tomorrow (Sat April 30) we will expire our final early-bird pricing. (The regular price is still an exceedingly great value – please comparison shop!)
I’d love to welcome you to the ‘we are not giving up’ community. Join us to create the future for small business – free from sameness, for 3 days, with 11 guest presenters, 3 new income streams and 1 guitar…

Not to worry, I’m not giving up. I’m just building things on my own terms, radically so. No matter what your plans are to attend workshops, launch new things, create meaning in your life, I hope you’ll stay the course and keep thinking for
yourself, too.
P.S. Soon, VERY soon, you are going to start hearing about more events embracing the technology we pioneered at the very first Wealthy Thought Leader event. I can make you that promise.
Simulcasting is one example of the kind of income stream I’ll be teaching at the event. (There will be several.)
I think you’re curious about how to be first and best at coming up with new ways to make money, reach new markets, serve people with the greatest reach… am I right? If so…you’ve found the spot. This is what we do best.
I’m excited!
Price savings expire tomorrow/Sat. Reserve your seat here.
P.P.S. Regardless of the event, I urge you to give this topic some thought. *Everybody* benefits when even just one person stop blindly following. For something concrete you can do, pick one of the 5 exercises I teach on how to think for yourself, here on this recording.
